FMS | FibroArt Monday! :)

I came across this great image on Pinterest (pinned by Rhonda Moss).

It is truly fascinating to me that there are some people who do not understand that fibromyalgia is a chronic illness, i.e. lifelong…no end in sight…you have to live with it, etc., etc.

At the same time, it is important that we, who have FMS, do not become overly frustrated with such questions.  In my opinion, they stem from feelings of helplessness.  It is not easy to watch someone close to you (or not) go through such a difficult time.  In this era of information overload and quick-fix, I think that we have come to believe that everything has to have a readily understandable explanation and an easy method of resolution–unfortunately, it is not so simple with FMS.

So, to everyone who asks such a question: No, we’re not better yet.  No, we don’t know when we will be. 🙂

I completely agree with helplessness being the reason for asking such a frustrating question. I guess when you do not have a chronic illness yourself, the idea that you do not just ‘get better’ is beyond your comprehension, as much as you may try.

That being said, how are you doing? What’s next on your journey? I read on JCU undergrad you graduated, CONGRATS! 😀

    Much love,
    Maggie

Thank you! I did graduate! 🙂 Finally! I am doing well (currently). 😀 What’s on the agenda? That’s a good question. I am working a bit, but mostly focusing on getting my health under better control because I had the flu for 2-3 weeks.

Applying to grad school is somewhere on the agenda as well and also I’ll be beginning a writing group for people to discuss their writing projects and get support (to start at the beginning of February). What about you?

      • Maggie says:

Uh, the writing group sounds so nice! 🙂 By the way, did you have a chance to keep working on your – I’m not sure what’s the proper English word for it – novel? The one you showed me one day in the Library? I keep thinking about it I hope I’ll get a chance to read it someday 🙂

I’m doing well myself, currently studying for finals – I’m pursuing a Laurea Specialistica (a.k.a. MSc) at the University of Trento 🙂 Are you planning to stay in Rome for the time being?

      • Diedré M. Blake says:

Awesome that you are continuing your studies! 🙂 Yes, I am still working on the novel–now that I have graduated, I have no excuses to be lazy about it. 😀 You will definitely get a chance to read it. I need a few pairs of objective eyes and ears! I’ll be in Rome for now. Let’s see what the universe brings.

Sounds very good to me 🙂 I hope we have a chance to meet and catch up – I think I’ll spend a week or so home right after I’m done with finals 🙂 xx
